Echoes of the North organizes winter and summer activities in the beautiful Swedish Lappland area. Most adventures are tailored to your wishes, so please call or email us with your wishes. We do have a standard trip to offer:

Husky Weekend

FRIDAY

Arrival. Settle in and get to know the farm and its inhabitants.

The first meeting with our huskies is for the novice a mind blowing experience. Husky dogs are very friendly and welcoming. Sleddogs are normally smaller than most newcomers expect them to be. We breed our own Alaskan Huskies.

SATURDAY

Early breakfast. Equipping you with what you need of warm clothing. Watering the dogs (in the morning they eat a "meat soup", little meat with lots of water and vitamins). We will teach you about harnesses, lines, sleds and other relevant equipment in this first session. We have the possibility to give you the easiest and safest possible introduction to the art of dogsledding by pulling your sled behind a snowmobile while you are getting the feel of how to steer, brake and hook up a sled before you actually start mushing your own husky team.

After these first impressions we'll eat lunch from our open air grill place (if the weather allows us).

After our stomachs are satisfied, we part to a mushing tour in the afternoon. You drive your own 4 dog team. The Huskies will pull us through Lapland's fantastic landscapes, such as forests, swamps, lakes and rivers.

After we fed the dogs it's time to eat, take a sauna and snow bathing afterwards, or just relax with a book or a film about the early days of dog driving and the history of mushing in front of a cosy fireplace.

SUNDAY

After a good breakfast for you and the dogs, we prepare for a new tour. You'll drive your own 4-dog team on a longer tour, and get to practice on some curvy forest tracks.

For lunch we stop by the lake and make a little barbecue and try out some ice fishing.

We take care of the dogs and the equipment (lines, dog harnesses and sleds) when we return home, then we feed the dogs.

After or before dinner we can part for a short snowshoe walk, and if we're lucky we can see the famous northern lights. Relax in the warm sauna, cosy evening.

Pricing:

€410 / person. All taxes included. Minimum 2 persons and maximum 4 persons.
€510 for one person.

Included:

Accommodation and all meals are provided from Friday evening to next Monday morning. If you have special dietary requirements, please notify us. Rent of snow shoes, mushing boots, thermo overalls and fishing equipment. If you are short on gloves, hats, socks, etc we can help out.

• Instructions in the basic skills of dog mushing and snow shoeing.
• Guided tours with your own dog team.
• Traditional wooden Sauna.
• Transfer from Vilhelmina Airport to Echoes of the North.

• International and domestic flights to/from Vilhelmina via Stockholm (Arlanda)
